Which Southern Machinery model fits my BOM?
Send us your component list with package, lead diameter, lead span, body height and panel size. We'll cross-check it against the radial / axial / jumper-wire / S7020 / odd-form catalogs (plus the standard Odd Form Insertion component list sample evaluation form) and reply with a recommended platform mix in 1–2 working days.
How many manual operators does one inserter actually replace?
Catalog reference: ≥ 10 operators per S7020 platform. Real factories typically retire 7–10 manual inserters per machine, depending on shift pattern and number of components per board. We'll model your specific case in the ROI report — see the Levven odd-form ROI study as a worked example.
Can you handle odd-form connectors and transformers, not just radials?
Yes — that is the entire point of the S7020F, S7040 / OIM-2FS-W and S7900 platforms. Tape, tube, bowl and tray feeders are interchangeable on a single chassis. Lead bending supports outward, inner, circular and 2-turn modes to prevent floating during wave soldering.
What does my PCB design need to comply with?
We'll send the THT PCB Design Guideline (Southern Machinery 2022) and the bend-mechanism specs to your design team. Key constraints: lead diameter < 1.0 mm for S7900 (subject to final design), exposed lead ≥ 2 mm, hole spacing per the bend-mechanism document, and panel size ≤ 450 × 450 mm for S3010A.
How does the machine integrate with our MES?
S4000 and S7900 use Windows-based industrial PCs with EtherCAT motion control, designed to integrate with MES via standard APIs (see internal MES API setting reference). USB / Excel recipes are the simplest path; custom protocols are quoted as a 1-month customisation.
What about training and after-sales?
Free engineer-led installation and on-site training are included. Operators are typically production-ready in 1 day on the S7020 series. Spare-parts ship in 1 day worldwide. 7×24 remote diagnosis covers your whole shift pattern.
Can you retrofit my legacy UIC / Universal AI machines?
Yes — we ship UIC AI loader / unloader retrofits (validated 2017 + 2020 programs) and Radial 3.5 mm retrofits to bring older machines back to current production-ready spec without replacing the whole chassis.
